Its Friday again and another eventful week has come to an end and its time to relax and enjoy the weekend but unfortunately the theatres aren’t going to be graced with many varieties this weekend so you have to be content with the older movies which are running in the theatres. People who have seen all the older movies please carry on.
Charan & Venkat Prabhu

Four new movies try to grab your attention. One from Kollywood and the rest are Hollywood imports. Now let’s analyze the movies.

First in the race is Nyabagam Varudhae, a Tamil movie starring the Chennai 28 director, Venkat prabhu and Saran. They have already starred in a movie “Unnai Saranadaindhaen” which was an average grosser. But this movie will probably end up loosing thanks to lack of marketing. Only if the word of mouth is very good can the movie get a life.

Why you should watch the movie? – Because you want to know what the talented duo are up to now.

Why you shouldn’t? – Because you have no clue the movie is getting released.

Second in the race is a thriller, “The Contract” starring big names like Morgan Freeman and John Cusak. But the movie about an ex-cop trying to bring a Contract killer to justice was badly received by the critics and it didn’t even get a proper theatrical release in the US. But the movie is not that bad though, so if you have time and you don’t know how to spend it make a contract with this Contract.

Why you should watch the movie? – Because John Cusak and Morgan Freeman are giants in Hollywood and you are a big fan of either of the two.

Why you shouldn’t? – If such giants didn’t get a theatrical release then the movie should be really bad.

Now about a movie which has been marketed pretty well Clive Owen’s ‘Shoot em up’. The movie’s posters have been very impressive; thanks to Insight media’s marketing campaign the movie will indeed get a good opening. Monica Bellucci the female lead of this movie is very popular in India so she can bring in the crowds too. The movie does complete justice to its title and it goes bang bang from the start till the end. And thoughtfully the movie has been dubbed in tamil and interestingly its named “American Pokkiri”, this will indeed bring in the B centre audience at whom the movie is targeted.

Why you should watch this movie? – Because you are a fan of Action movies.

Why you shouldn’t? – Because you are a Fan of Action movies with some logic.

Now for the last movie for this week, “Resident evil - Extinction”, the threequel to the semi successful Resident Evil franchisee. The popular game was adapted to silver screen and the fans of the games are loyal enough to make the franchise a hit. Milla Jovovich is back for the third time as Alice, who has to fight the zombies and try to save herself and the world from the deadly virus which the Umbrella Corporation have created. But Indians are not that big fan of this franchise as the previous two did little to justify such a wide release of the third. Still the fans of Milla Jovovich and the game will be eager to see what Alice does the third time around. Will the third time be the charm?

Why you should watch this movie? – Because you love the game, and you love to see Milla Jovovich doing those amazing stunts.

Why you shouldn’t? – You are the majority of those who hated the first two movies in the series.

Everyone wondering, why we don’t have a pick of the week? As I have promised when a week goes by with all the movies which are not very interesting, the pick of the week will be left blank.

Verdict – See them if you have time to spare
