Ashok Amrithraj, Rajinikanth and Hollywood films

Hollywood producer Ashok Amrithraj was recently in the country in connection with the selection of a director for his film. Currently eighteen people have been short listed for the post of director, out of which two are women and four are from Chennai. Speaking to the media on this occasion Ashok said, “There is an international recognition for

Indian films and stars. Film business is also showing positive trends and especially it is heartening to see the market that Tamil films enjoy worldwide” However, Ashok finds it very risky to invest huge sums in Tamil film and has no plans to fund in Kollywood films right now.

When questioned about involving super star Rajinikanth in Hollywood ventures, he said, “Rajini is more of a family friend to us and an extremely good human being. We had made Bloodstone featuring him. But currently situations are not conducive for a project with him. But in future, such a situation may arise.”
