Shakthi is the Man of the Match

He was one of the most promising debuts of 2007, though his debut film didn’t fare too well at the box office. Actor Shakthi, son of director P. Vasu, and his debut film Thottal Poo Malarum is the subject discussed here. Though the movie received an average response, the song Arabu Naade…became a chart topper and made him a known face among the Tamil audiences.

Shakthi is, however, very clear about his future plans. He has short-listed four films from the 20 stories he had patiently paid attention to. Of these, one is Aata Nayakan (Man of the Match) produced by Lakshmi Movie Makers and directed by Mithran, an erstwhile assistant of director Vikraman. Next being Mahesh, Sandhya Matrum Palar… in which he is cast opposite actress Sandhya. This film is to be directed by Lingusamy’s assistant Ravi and Cool Productions will produce this venture. He will also star in Pyramid Saimira Productions’ Aarpaattam directed by debutant K. Dhana, who was an assistant to director S.A. Chandrasekhar. Actress Banu of Thamirabharani fame will star opposite Shakthi in this film. He has decided to do just three films this year and hasn’t made up his mind on the fourth project, which might be directed by his father P. Vasu. Of these films, two are hard-core action films and Shakthi is sweating it out pumping up muscles to get the rustic look. He’s one debutant who has his head on his shoulders.
