The Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers' Association
(TNPWA) state conference was held in Chennai
on December 18th, 2008. The association
was started to stress on the importance
of Tamil language. Their agenda is to nationalize
all the literary works of Thanthai Periyar
and to declare Tamil as an official language
in government organizations, legal system
and temples.
Noted film maker Balu Mahendra welcomed
the gathering, which consisted of writers
from across India. The event was organized
under the stewardship of the president of
the TNWPA, Mr. Arunan.
A photo exhibition and book exhibition was
also inaugurated at the venue by Mrs. Kameela
Nasser, wife of actor Nasser, and Trotsky
Maruthu. |
