Manal Kayiru, the hilarious film which rocked Tamil Nadu in 1982 was a bitter pill coated in saccharine. There was an underlying social message combined with lively comedy. This film helped bolster S V Shekar his image and the film was well received by the audience. Now after twenty five years, a sequel to this film is being made which is titled rightly as

Manal Kayiru-Part 2 and S V Shekar wields the megaphone this time.

In the old film, Shanthi Krishna had played the role of S V Shekar’s wife and in the present version their daughter of marriageable age puts forth conditions for getting married and challenges the men folk, totally in contrast with the original version wherein her father was the one who laid out wedding conditions. Sailing with the current times, prospective bridegrooms flock the house of the bride. S V Shekar’s son Ashwin Shekar plays the role of foster son of Nagercoil Nadamuni in Manal Kayiru part 2. Ashwin who began his career in Vegam has also been booked in Ninaivil Ninraval where Keerthi Chawla plays his heroine.
