Vijay turns 35!
17 years back, a simple looking youngster stepped into Kollywood. It may be clichéd but, ‘the rest as they say is history’. Today, at the relatively young age of 35, he has a huge number of fans waiting expectantly for the announcement on his 50th movie as a hero. That’s no mean achievement. 50 movies in 17 years in the film industry, which means that he has been prolific. The fact that he is now rated just behind the two big legends of the industry in terms of fan following, shows that he has delivered some popular stuff while still being prolific.

He has always been the common man’s star, kept things uncomplicated and kept delivering entertainers that the masses can easily identified with. He chose his direction and stuck to it in a steadfast manner and has till date not shown any signs of wavering from the chosen path. There are many who don’t quite agree with his line of thinking

and selection. But, one guesses that the support and expectations of his fans vindicates his stand at the end of the day. He makes no qualms about the fact that he always tries to satisfy his fans in theaters rather than any connoisseur or critic. If his fans love to see him in a ‘larger than life’ light, then he is prepared to do it for them, in the best possible manner. Not that it has always worked, but when it has worked, it has worked wonders for all those involved. It is that kind of commitment towards his fans and refusal to be bogged down by failure that has made his 50th film an event of sorts for Kollywood.

On his 35th birthday, ‘Urimai Kural’ or ‘Enga Veettu Pillai’ or something else (we don’t know the title of the 50th film for sure) will be announced. And, with that his fans are expecting a big and landmark announcement – that of a political party. Now, we don’t know how much truth there is in all the talks that have been doing the rounds. We have to wait and watch.

But, one thing we know for sure is that Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay has many long years in front of him to give his fans the kind of movies they want. Behindwoods wishes him the very best for the years to come and more importantly for Vettaikaran and his landmark 50th film. Happy Birthday Vijay.
