Fathers: A look into the escorts of some actresses |
| |
| Asin,
Nayantara, Gopika and Sada : It is not
the mamas that escort their daughters, the heroines
for that matter, to the sets. And they are a jolly
lot, chit chatting, throwing no tantrums on the
sets, and not bothering the make up artistes. These
critters are there just to ensure that their daughters
are safe. |

Asin’s
escort, workmate and confidant, is her papa Joseph,
a former CBI officer. “He’s a disciplinarian.
He is very punctual and meticulous,” says
Asin and feels greatly indebted to him for her
professional approach to work. Before taking in
papa as her manager, she had, earlier had four
managers but found them absolutely useless. Now
she can relax for she has someone who knows her
well to look after her appointments. Joseph also
has 20 other business establishments. Is his daughter’s
money in there as investment? Well, it’s
a family secret.
|
| If
Asin is from Kerala, Nayantara too is from
Kerala. Nayantara is her father, C K Kurien’s
pet. She has a brother who is mama’s
pet. Kurien is a former Air Force officer
and his very presence sends shivers down
the spine of any mischievous guy who entertains
an eye on this diva. Though Kurien’s
full time job is to look after Nayantara’s
appointments, he is not very regular to
the sets. |

What
a coincidence! Gopika too is from Kerala.
She belongs to Palakkad. Earlier, it was
mama and sister who would accompany her
to the sets but, Gopika has decided that
they would not be seen anywhere around.
There were several invitations to the two
to come into acting but, Gopika felt that
all her hardships would end with her. Now
papa Anto Francis looks after her call sheets.
He had a business back in Palakkad, a hotel
called Reach Out but since his daughter
has made it big, he has leased it out. Now
he is the putative manager for Gopika. |

Sada’s
papa is a doctor, an ayurvedic doctor. Like Sada,
he too is very strict. He hates gossip and when
it comes to airing his opinion, he is very outspoken.
Sada feels very secured when her papa is around.
And he’s always around.
The older heroines always came with their mothers.
The fathers, most of them were dummies. However,
the scene is changing today. The girls who come
into the industry are educated, hardworking and
know the realities of life. They can manage their
affairs alone but then, someone near at hand is
always helpful. |
