Jagdish Singh Khehar, the Chief Justice of India, reportedly underlined the need for the appointment of judges in the Supreme court and said the vacancies were affecting the court's efficiency. "The Supreme Court currently has 23 judges against sanctioned strength of 31," he added. Meanwhile, former Chief Justice TS Thakur had also slammed the Centre for ignoring​ judiciary's concerns regarding appointments.
