Even after 15 years of global eradication, India still battles the crippling disease and accounts for more than 60 percent of the total reported cases of leprosy in the world. World Health Organization had declared the world leprosy free in 2000, but the disease is slowly creeping back in, with India, Brazil and Indonesia accounting for 81 percent of the cases reported.
