First of all the reason for me to choose this title does not arise only from watching Ayan but also Kana Kandein. In Hollywood, director Speilberg's movies have style, powerful storyline and characterization which make him what he is today. And in my opinion, K V Anand's movies also have these qualities. It may sound too early as Anand is just a couple of movies old as a director.

Yesterday K V Anand was on-air in a popular FM station giving an interview. To sum up the movie, he said "Ayan would have nothing extraordinary which a common man
  Ayan
cannot relate to. It will make you cry, laugh, smile, get angry, blush. And when I watched the movie I realized he was right.

To say the least, Tamil cinema has truly arrived at the top level in terms of realistic stories. This is a movie which seems to be challenging Bollywood and even Hollywood as I feel Tamil cinema is improving in terms of content and style. Here comes a
Rajini style of movie, with the Good prevailing over evil which is entertaining and gripping and at the same time the movie has nothing which is not possible like gravity defying stunts or an unbelievable story/sequence. The movie is slick, commercial and at the same time carries a strong message for everyone who is after money in wrong ways. From start till finish, there is no deviation from the story.

I would not like to divulge much about the storyline but it is a very original story which I hope is not copied from any Hollywood movie. It deals with the journey of people who indulge in so called adventures for the sake of earning money and where fate leads them. A decision which an individual takes not only affects him but also those who are dependant on him.

Deva is a young man who does not want to work and hence embarks on a different platform which promises thrills and luxuries. What are the risks and problems awaiting him? Where does the path lead him to? What are the losses he incurs? Is he able to recover? The movie is an answer to all these questions and it is gripping and holds on your attention throughout. What is highly appreciable is that there are no loose ends in the story.

Suriya rocks the screen and continues from where he left in VA. As the boy next door, his pranks and his romance is lovable and his acting is perfect in situations where he is caught in a web. He is simply amazing. We love you Suriya.

Tamanna is cute and though her role is short, she performs and emotes well. Prabhu, Ponvannan and Suriya's mother have shown their experience. Jagan has got a great role and has done full justice to it. Akashdeep as the villain is menacing and you feel like kicking him. Such is his role and also is involvement in the character. All the characters are well etched out and perform to their potential.

The songs are not a major hindrance here (unlike in some movies where even a gripping tale is robbed off its charm because of songs) but are pleasant to the ears. The cinematography and editing is top notch and eye catching. BGM rocks and the stunts are truly amazing. Though I would say that the winner is K V Anand for directing such a captivating blockbuster and also for bringing together such a dream team.

Subha and Anand have done a great and fabulous job to realize this wonderful screenplay. All the technicians deserve a huge round of applause. Hats off to AVM for producing another clean entertainer! And finally critics of SUN Pictures, who criticize them for marketing masala movies, can finally get to appreciate them for backing such a huge quality product.

Having said all this Anand told that Suriya has done comedy in this movie much like the one he did in Pithamagan and I got to see only glimpses of it. And hence I ended up asking for more... Such is Suriya's capability to steal hearts not only in romantic scenes but also in comedy. Versatility and Charm- thy name in TAMIL is Suriyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah...

Best Regards,
