2006 was a milestone in Vadivelu’s
acting career. The actor, acclaimed
for his comic skills, proved that
he can carry a film on his shoulders
by serious dramatic effort, thereby
pulling off a super hit. Imsai Arasan,
one of the highest grossers of 2006,
did not find many takers. However,
Shankar took the bull by the horns,
and released the movie on his own.
The
result was overwhelming—a star was reborn!—and
Vadivelu has been busy ever since reading scripts
of a similar kind. It wouldn’t be surprising
if Vadivelu gave the other top heroes a run for
their money in the year 2007.
