Order on ban of smoking scenes revoked

  Behindwoods
  September 14, 2005

The Government had issued an order that from October 2 this year, no films shall have scenes which showed the

actors smoking. This created a raging debate within and outside the industry. Considering the several practical difficulties in removing such scenes from films which were under production or waiting to be released, the Censor Board chairperson Sharmila Tagore, wrote to the Central Government requesting a relaxation of the order for six months. The Government has agreed to the demand and so such scenes can be included in films. As far as Tamil audience is concerned, we can be rest assured that we will get to see superstar’s cigarette tricks for some more time.
