Shankar’s gigantic productions are much appreciated by the audience. He has a meticulous working style and is a   punishing perfectionist. That is how he has been able to reach the summit of success.

He has the policy of choosing his assistants before commencing work on each film. But director Mani Ratnam conducts interviews to decide on his assistants. Now, Shankar has also adopted this practice and gave out feelers that he was looking for assistants for his next film Sivaji. He received not less than a thousand applications. He screened them, conducted an interview and chose only 20 guys to be the assistants. Much is at stake for him in Sivaji and he has plunged completely into the project. He is carrying out story discussions with the new recruits.
