The rains did not spare even the big B

Behindwoods
August 20, 2005

The recent rains in Mumbai brought havoc to thousands of the city’s residents. Nature made no discrimination between rich and poor or mighty and meek. For example, Amitabh Bachan’s posh bungalow in Juhu suffered the brunt of the floods. The ground floor of the palatial building came under water. The kitchen and the large personal library of the Bachans were completely marooned. Big B, his son Abishek and Bachan Senior’s mother spent sleepless nights on the first floor while Jaya was anxious to get back from New Delhi where she had been stranded due to lack of flights. His collection of books has been totally spoilt due to water logging. He was upset about the turn of events and brooded over for many days. Jaya has been the pacifist assuaging him. Want to know the worth of the books he has lost? It is a cool Rs. 64 lakhs.
