Legendary ghazal singer Jagjit Singh’s daughter Monica Chaudhary committed suicide by hanging herself. It is reported that Monica was under depression for quite some time and could have resorted to this extreme measure.

Chitra Singh, mother of Monica, is also a noted ghazal singer and had been staying with her daughter at the Kalpal Hormus building in Bandra at the time the incident occurred. Monica divorced her first husband Jehangir Chaudhary to marry a British national, Atkins. However, her second marriage also turned sour resulting in depression, her family sources say.
