The
Filmfare Awards (Hindi) were given away yesterday
at a grand ceremony. The awards capped off a dream
run of victories in 2006. This is the last major
award function that recognizes the brilliance
of 2006. Now there will be a long wait till 2008
for the next awards function.
The winners in the major categories are…
Best Music: A.R.Rahman
Film: Rang de Basanti
Well there were not many options. The only real
challenge may have been from Shankar
Ehsaan Loy for KANK
Best Story: Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinodh Chopra
Film: Lagey Raho Munna Bhai
This is one film that many thought would walk
away with a lot more awards than it
finally managed to get.
Best Movie: Rang de Basanti
Well, it was touch and go between RDB and Munna

Director: Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra
Film: Rang de Basanti
For near perfect execution and technical
finesse.
Best Supporting Actor: Abhishek Bachchan
Film: Kabhi Alvida Kehna
The sole consolation for the Karan Johar
camp. Barring this, KANK was ignored. A
deserving recognition for the Junior B who
has been working really hard and delivering
too.

Supporting Actress: Konkana Sen Sharma
Film: Omkaara
The movie just continues to gather the accolades.
Best Actor in a Negative Role: Saif Ali Khan
Film: Omkaara
The most predictable award of the night. Saif’s
Langda Tyaagi may be considered even for the best
villain role of the decade.
Best Actor in a Comic Role: Arshad Warsi
Film: Lage Raho Munna Bhai
It has been a year of memorable comic performances.
Arshad’s Circuit however was the best.
