The Filmfare Awards (Hindi) were given away yesterday at a grand ceremony. The awards capped off a dream run of victories in 2006. This is the last major award function that recognizes the brilliance of 2006. Now there will be a long wait till 2008 for the next awards function.

The winners in the major categories are…

Best Music: A.R.Rahman
Film: Rang de Basanti
Well there were not many options. The only real challenge may have been from Shankar
Ehsaan Loy for KANK

Best Story: Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinodh Chopra
Film: Lagey Raho Munna Bhai
This is one film that many thought would walk away with a lot more awards than it

Best Director: Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra

The sole consolation for the Karan Johar camp. Barring this, KANK was ignored. A deserving recognition for the Junior B who has been working really hard and delivering too.

It has been a year of memorable comic performances. Arshad’s Circuit however was the best.
Best Cinematography: Binod Pradhan
