Shah Rukh was the first choice, not Abhi

Abhishek Bachchan will be seen romancing his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on screen in the Mani Rathnam directed Raavan. But not many know that Shah Rukh Khan was the first choice for the role. Mani approached him with the subject and SRK also showed keen interest. However, when the director went to Mumbai after a long gap, the King Khan had already committed to star in Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

SRK did not deny that he was approached for the role in Raavan. However, the actor said that there is always a next time, hinting that he may work with Mani in a future venture.
