There were plenty of comedians in Tamil cinema just a few years ago. All of them were never solo artists but performed as a comedy team in films. They were very popular with the audience. Some examples are, Manivannan, Kumarimuthu(of the famous squint), Loose Mohan(for his Chennaithamizh), Mayilsami(mimicry), Omakuchi Narasimhan, Bonda Mani, Thideer Kannaiah, Sahadevan-Mahadevan, King kong etc. They have not been seen of late. May be the present crop of films do not require their brand of comedy. However, they will all be working in a soon-to-be-shot film called Vizhi mozhi azhagi. The producer and director were very keen to give them the chance to act in the film because of the arrogant attitude and exorbitant rates of the current crop of comedians including Vadivelu and Vivek.
