Kazhugu is expected to be a comedy-thriller film directed by Sathyasiva, who is making his debut. The music has been provided by the prolific Yuvan Shankar Raja who is known to support such small budget films with little known stars. Kazhugu stars Krishna of 'Alibaba' fame and Bindu Madhavi of 'Veppam' fame is the female lead.  The film, based on real-life incidents, has been shot in real locations, including Kodaikanal, Theni and Munnar. It has been in the making since late 2010 and is expected to release in January 2012. Let’s see whether Yuvan has pulled off his magic again.

Aambalaikum Pombalaikum...
Singers: Krishnaraj, Velmurugan, Sathyan
Lyrics: Sneha

A song that mocks the current day lovers' casual attitude and questions the basic concept of love. The tune is very catchy and has a nice 'gaana' feel to it with the 'nadaswaram' and 'thaara', 'thappattai' usage. A nice folksy attempt from Yuvan that will surely appeal to a large section of the audience and the youth in particular.

Aathadi Manasudhan...
Singer: Priya Himesh
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Beautiful melody that talks about the lovelorn feeling. It has equally lovely and expressive singing from Priya. The instrumentals are typical of Yuvan and the orchestra has some flowing violins and flutes.  Flawless composition that is special to the ‘Raja’ family. Will be a major hit among the masses. Has the potential to be a cult if picturized well.

Karthik Raja has sung the male version of this song, which is exactly the same. But Priya’s version is much more appealing. Karthik’s voice is a bit down on expression and joy. Wonder which version will come in the movie.

Paathagathi Kannupattu...
Singer: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics: Snehan

Here comes the Yuvan special, the song that he handpicks to sing. A nice unhurried song which gives the feeling of going on a travel along a scenic village. The lyrics talk about how the guy is bowled over by his girl. Like all other songs that Yuvan sings, this will also hit the bulls eye. The visuals have a lot of catching up to do, given the beautiful nature of this song.

Vaadi Vaadi...
Singers: Pushpavanam Kuppuswamy, Suvi Suresh, Anitha
Lyrics: Eaknath

Looks like a village 'thiruvizha' song. Very pacy, catchy and has some energetic singing by all the singers involved. The elements of a typical folk song like the usage of nadaswaram and fast rustic beats are all there. Will make the front-benchers and the rural audience sway along merrily.

Verdict: Yuvan Shankar Raja has given proper folk music with a couple of beautiful melodies. The music will give a big boost to the movie's opening. Hope the visuals do justice to the beautiful compositions.
