EXPECTATION METER

Arivazhagan, who made people take note of his work in his debut film Eeram, is ready with his second film titled Vallinam that means the hard consonant in Tamil in literal sense. Vallinam belongs to the sports genre which is not an oft attempted format.
 
Vallinam stars Nakul and debutante Mrudhula Basker in lead roles and is produced by Aascar Ravichandran with Thaman’s music.
 
When director Arivazhagan was probed to find out about the USPs of Vallinam, this is what he had to say.
 
  • Sports based films are few and in that sense Vallinam will stand out different. That said, the film will also talk about other emotions like friendship and love with college as the backdrop.
     
  • Vallinam will have a very strong sports based social message that one cannot overlook but at the same time, it will be a wholesome entertainer too.
     
  • The central theme of the film will be- no pain, no gain- which reiterates the fact that if one needs to acquire something, he/she needs to work for it.
     
  • The highlight of Vallinam would be a train sequence which was shot continuously for 72 hours without break due to constraints in getting permission from the authorities.  
     
  • The climax will be a perfect ending one can think of as we had put a massive basketball court set in T Nagar. The spirit of the game can be well felt in the scene. The minute details have been looked into and the most important sequence of the movie had come out perfect and stunning.
     
  • It is difficult to make an actor play a basketball player. Nakul has worked very hard for Vallinam and practiced for hours. An exclusive coach trained him in the sport and the result will be there for the audience to witness and appreciate.
