TAMIL MOVIE RELEASE EXPECTATION

The original Sattam Oru Iruttarai, released in 1981, sort of catapulted its lead actor Vijayakanth to stardom. He epitomized the angry young man frustrated with the justice system and went on to become the poster boy of action movies in the 80s. That blockbuster Sattam Oru Iruttarai, directed by actor Vijay's father S.A. Chandrasekhar is being remade now by first time director Sneha Britto who also happens to be SAC’s sister’s granddaughter.

The new version is produced by SAC himself under the Esthell Entertainers banner. Earlier supposed to have Vikram Prabhu in the lead role, the movie underwent casting changes as Vikram could not accommodate the movie along with his Kumki routine. Thaman Kumar replaced him and he is cast opposite Bindu Madhavi, Piaa Bajpai and Reemma Sen.

Vijay Anthony scores for Sattam Oru Iruttarai that also has Radha Ravi, Sampath Ram, Krishnamoorthy and Suresh in important roles. The movie's cinematography is done by C.J. Rajkumar, and editing by M.R. Rejeesh.

The movie is riding on the popularity of its almost three decade old original. Although the original could provide an initial interest for the average viewer, the latest SOI would only be able to stand on its own merit when it releases this weekend.
