TAMIL MOVIE RELEASE EXPECTATION

Synonymous with small, independent and realistic movies that are successful, Pandiraj is turning to out and out comedy with the quirky-titled Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga. If Pandiraj desired word-of-mouth for his title and film, he has got it with the title that is a mishmash of many Tamil movies from the recent and the past.

Pandiraj's KBKR will have Vimal and Sivakarthikeyan - two up and coming stars - in lead roles. Posters and trailers show them in unison, clad in dhotis and garland. The story is set against the backdrop of a small town Ponmalai, near Trichy, and revolves around two friends played by Vimal and Siva. There is also a love story peppered in the storyline.

According to Vimal, most of the scenes of the film were shot in a tiny railway station in the Trichy area. This enabled the shoots to progress very well as the station had less frequency of trains. On the other hand, it also hindered the shoots in some ways as the crew had to wait for a long time to can a train shot.

KBKR will be a family entertainer like Pandiraj's other movies. Along with Vimal and Siva, there are Bindu Madhavi and Regina Cassandra playing female leads. Yuvan scores for the film that has five songs - Silambarasan sings one of them. Both the male leads in the film were brought to the industry by Pandiraj (Vimal via Pasanga and Sivakarthikeyan via Marina) and he is bringing them together in KBKR.

Co-produced by Pandiraj and P Madan, KBKR's rights were bagged by Studio Green - the studio that now owns the distribution rights of the film. Pandiraj's earlier successes might rope in the initial crowd and promise the movie a good opening. Given that comedy sits well with Pandiraj's narrative style, there is hope for KBKR at the box office.
