Vivek Oberoi is currently waiting for his next film, PM Narendra Modi, which will be hitting the screens on 24th May. The actor had shared a meme on his Twitter account which involved Aishwarya Rai. Naturally, netizens were angered and started criticising him.

Vivek Oberoi responds to criticism for sharing a meme about Aishwarya Rai

While speaking to the media addressing this controversy, he said: "People are saying apologise, I have no problem in apologising, but tell me what wrong have I done? If I have done something wrong I will apologise. I don't think I have done anything wrong. What's wrong in it? Somebody tweeted a meme and I laughed at it.

I don't know why people are making a huge issue out of it. Someone had sent me a meme which made fun of me. I laughed on it & I appreciated the person for his creativity. If someone mocks at you, you should not take it seriously.

Those in the meme don't have a problem, but everyone else has. Kaam karne jaate hain nahi non-issues ke upar netagiri shuru kar dete hain. They couldn't stop my film, now they are trying this."

The National Commission for Women had filed a case on him and sought justice. In response to that he said: "I'm waiting for National Commission for Women, State Commission for Women. I'd like to meet them, I'll also like to explain myself because I don't think I have done anything wrong."

One of the celebrities to condemn Vivek Oberoi was actress Sonam Kapoor. He responed to her tweet saying: "...Aap apni filmon mein thoda kam overact karein aur social media pe thoda kam overreact karein. (Stop over-acting in your movies, and stop over-reacting on social media.) I've been working in women empowerment for 10 yrs now. I don't think this is hurting anyone's sentiments"

We've to wait to see how things proceed from this point.
