TN GOVERNMENT TO IMPOSE SECTION 144 DUE TO CORONAVIRUS

The  Coronavirus outbreak has made state governments to take bold precautionary measures, as the disease spread multiplies easily in crowded spaces. The central and state governments have requested citizens to stay at home in order to curtail the virus' transmission.

TN govt to impose Section 144 from March 24 due to Coronavirus

The Edappadi K. Palaniswami led Tamil Nadu government has announced that all district borders of the state will be closed from March 24 until further notice. Adding to that, the government has announced that Section 144 will be imposed on 6 PM at the same date. Sec. 144 prevents gatherings and crowding at public places.

The government issued a statement, saying that strict action will be taken if a civilian fails to obey the above laws. The WHO has declared Coronavirus as a pandemic and the law has also been imposed in cities such as Delhi and Varnasi.

Despite the implementation of law, the government has assured that grocery shops will be functioning. Public gathering spaces such as malls, theatres and recreation clubs will be closed.
