Theatre associations demand to the state government of Tamil Nadu

Worries for Tamil cinema continue as theatre strike continues for the 4th consecutive day. Trade experts say, 4 days of complete shutdown has never happened in Tamil film industry’s history.

According to our sources from Tamil Film Producer Council and Theatre Owners Association, 3rd round meeting will be held today, 6th July between Tamil film fraternity members and representatives of state government. It is told that Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy, Financial Minister Jayakumar and other prominent Ministers of the state are expected to take part in this high profile meeting.

Meanwhile, opposition leader MK Stalin raised GST issue in assembly. Supposedly he backs the theatre association bandh and urges the government to solve the problem immediately.

When we dug further to understand the demands enforced by the theatre association to the government, we got to know a few details about it.

Apparently, the fraternity has put forth 3 demands which are mentioned below:

1. Ticket price slab to be increased to 200
2. No Municipal Tax to be charged
3. There should be a
difference in ticket rates from an A/C theatre and a non-A/C theatre. 200 rupees ticket price for A/C screens and 90 rupees for non-A/C screens.

It is said that the latest development has been positive and the industry is hoping for a result this evening. Stay tuned for more updates!
