After the critical and commercial success of Irumbu Thirai, director PS Mithran is back with his second directorial Hero, which stars Sivakarthikeyan and Kalyani Priyadarshan as leads while Arjun, Abhay deol and others play supporting roles. The film is produced by Kotapadi J. Rajesh under the banner KJR Studios.

The teaser breakdown of Sivakarthikeyan and PS Mithran's Hero

The teaser establishes its premise of a good versus evil fight in the field of education by adding relevant shots and voiceovers. The segue is not hurried, hence we get to see key information without being rushed. Abhay Deol’s character looks as suave and corporate-like as White Devil, the antagonist in Mithran’s earlier work (Irumbu Thirai).

Going by the looks of the teaser, one can assume that the film tackles more broader aspects of education, like the forgery of degree certificates and the unfairness of the system. Certain scenes and shots showcase the portrayal of the dark underbelly with authenticity (the tools used for forgery and the printed fake certificates.

Hero gives us glimpses into the making of a homegrown, Batman-like vigilante with his own version of the batarang and gadgets that might be possibly designed by the character played by ‘Action King’ Arjun, accompanied by the knowledge of Engineering students (the teaser showed a few glimpses of prototypes and engineering models present in a workshop-like setting).

The shadowy cinematography complements the nocturnal presence of our vigilante well. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s restrained score reaches a dramatic crescendo, thereby heightening the moment where we witness the complete reveal of our ‘Hero’ Sivakarthikeyan.
