The Mummy (2017) trailer review

The Mummy 2017 official trailer is out and it is adrenaline pumping and exciting! The film stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Sofia Boutella, Russell Crowe and others. This film is a reboot of The Mummy franchise and it is the first official installment in the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe.

The trailer starts off with Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis and a few soldiers resting in an airplane. Then there is the massive introduction of the Mummy coffin. They show how it is transported into the airplane. The enthralling background score ensures some kind of a thrilling atmosphere around. Then there seems to be some kind of an attack on the airplane. This attack is then shown to be caused by multitudinous birds flying into the airplane breaking right through it. The glasses of the airplane break out and the birds attack and kill the humans in the flight and it faces destruction. Gravity takes over and sweeps them off their feet and as the flight breaks and burns, they are thrown out. Tom Cruise helps Annabelle Wallis with a parachute and he stays back in the flight as it burns down and crashes into misery.

The airplane is shattered into pieces and just as we think the only thing to survive will be the Mummy coffin, the next shot depicts a number of dead bodies packed in bags and made to rest in a mortuary. The next thing we see is Tom Cruise walking from the dead.

Next, we hear a terrific voice over welcoming us to a "new world of gods and monsters" while they focus on the eyes of Sofia Boutella as the Mummy while her horrific eye balls split into 4. We are then introduced to Princess Ahmanet (again, Sofia Boutella) who has obviously risen from the dead to become the Mummy. We then see Tom Cruise's only shot from this trailer where he delivers a dialogue, his nervous reaction of having seen the Mummy.

The trailer reaches its climax as they show Ahmanet/The Mummy causing destruction to the whole world and how the lead characters are running away from the wake of destruction.

One major take away from this trailer is that the film is set in modern day. Another very important fact is that this film marks the introduction of characters such as the Invisible Man, Frankenstien's monster, Wolf Man, Gill Man and Count Dracula in the Mummy franchise. The inclusion of all these monsters along with The Mummy, will definitely be an adventurous experience!
