The film stars Simbu, SJ Suryah, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Premji and YG Mahendran in the lead roles. Produced by Suresh Kamatchi, the film has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by Richard M. Nathan.

Maanadu is directed by Venkat Prabhu. Silambarasan is playing the role of Abdul Khaaliq in this film which is set in a political context. Simbu’s first look had raised the expectations for the film.
Last week, Yuvan announced on his Twitter page that the first single would be released on the afternoon of June 21. Following this, the first song of the film, Meherezylaa, released and went viral. Yuvan Shankar Raja's fans are celebrating the song.
