Mannurunda is out from soorarai pottru. This song follows the last Veyyon silli which created ripples. This song is set in the background of a funeral and for those of who have some knowledge of the last rites in most Of Tamil Nadu, these events are filled with music and dance as it is considered a celebration of both the departed persons life and his journey to heaven after his demise.

Suriya's Soorarai Pottru Mannurunda song Music Review

The song is a perfect composition to reflect a funeral atmosphere and it’s highlights are the lyrics of K. Ekadesi. The nadaswaram of Thirumurthy is simply spot on while the live drums of Kumar just lift you off your feet. One can feel the rhythm and embrace the setting and this is also thanks to the live percussions of sundar, vedha, Venkat, Ganapathy , vikram, kiran, Hariprasadh and ranjit. Ben and Thomas on trumpets do a fabulous job in the interludes and background.

Ekadesi kills you with his lyrical portrayal of life’s great inequalities repaired by the most certain eventuality of life called death. Senthil Ganesh sings it with impeccable modulation and there is a moment in the second stanza where he sings about the societal assumptions and treatment of castes and here you will be touched and made to feel the pain of the downtrodden
