Home > Tamil Movies > Tamil Cinema NewsModel-turned-Actress Meera Mithun was arrested by the Chennai Police on August 14 after several complaints were filed against her by multiple groups for passing derogatory remarks against the scheduled caste community during an interview on a YouTube channel. After being produced in court in Chennai on August 165, she was sent to judicial custody until August 27.
It was only a few weeks back that a case was filed against her by Vanni Arasu, deputy general secretary of Viduthalai Siruthaigal Katchi with the Chennai Commissioner for using a casteist slur against the community. She had also said all members of the scheduled caste community should be chucked out from the film industry.
The actress, who gained spotlight with her brief stint in Bigg Boss Tamil season 3, is quite infamous for her controversial remarks. She also took to her YouTube channel recently and accused a director of stealing her pictures for the first look poster of a movie. Stating that her videos seem to incite violence, the Central Crime Branch Police had given a letter to YouTube's administration to shut down the channel of Meera Mithun.
Noting that she has signed many films and the producers may face losses if she doesn't turn up, Meera Mithun filed for bail and reportedly told officers that she'll cooperate for the investigation and the conditions of the court. She also said that wouldn't erase any evidence.
