Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam singers share their experience working with D. Imman

The audio track of Udhayanidhi Stalin's Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam (PEMT), is out and we got in touch with all the singers, who have crooned for the songs in this album, composed by D.Imman. Here we go!

1. Summa Irukkuradhu
Singer - Deepak
-  "I have had the wonderful opportunity of singing for  D. IMMAN sir in quite a few of his previous projects. Some of my notable songs for him have been "Shut up your mouth" and "Mosale Mosale" from Yennamo Yedho; "Jilla Theme" from Jilla; and "Thaarumaaru Thakkali Soru" from 'Veera Sivaji'. This is my fourth project with him and each and every experience has been special. Sir comes across as this wonderfully inspiring human being who makes an upcoming singer like me very comfortable before actually recording every song. I was thrilled to bits when I got the call from sir  for this particular recording as it was for such a big project such as "Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam" under such a powerful banner. Once I heard the song I was even more happy as it was truly a mass number and being a hero entry song, gave me a lot of scope as a singer. It is a powerful, racy track and is featured in the teaser of PEMT as well. I truly hope it would be the highlight of my career as a playback singer. 29th of June is my birthday and this has been a special birthday gift for me.

2. Ammani
Singers - Diluckshan Jeyaratnam, Shashaa Tirupati

Diluckshan - "It was a great experience to sing a folkish romantic duet. Even though I wasn't able to meet Imman in person and work with him, we still had a great collaboration going on via whatsapp and calls. He was down to earth and very professional, which made the process very enjoyable"

Shashaa Tirupati - "I've worked with Imman sir on a few projects now.  After the success of Silikku Marame this is my next peppy track with him. It's always a musical treat working with Imman sir. He's a brilliant composer and arranger and there is such a wide plethora of music he is capable of rendering, this song being a very new kind for me. For an artist I also find it fulfilling when the composer gives us the liberty to leave a little bit of our mark on the track stylistically. Imman sir allows that and allowed me to express myself in this track. I'm glad I've gotten to work with a new singer. It's always inspiring singing alongside talented co-singers."

3. Yenaanu Solveno
Singers - Sathyaprakash, Vandana Srinivasan

Sathyaprakash - "It is a sad melody love song that goes well with the situation. Its always fun to sing for Imman sir, because he creates a friendly atmosphere for musicians. I start with a high pitch Hindustani style Aalaap that goes into a folkish romantic tune. The strings arrangements were wonderful and I am happy to have sung yet another nice melody for Imman sir."

Vandana Srinivasan - "I have worked with Imman sir for many songs before and he is just fantastic. He explains each and every tune with patience and makes us sing."

4. Singakutty
Singers - Rajaganapathy, Niranjana Ramanan

Rajaganapathy - "'Singakutti Na Thaandi' is a folkish melody. Niranjana and I, came for the reality show, where Imman sir promised us to use our voice in one of his compositions and that promise became true with this song. This was the very first song I recorded."

Niranjana Ramanan - "I had a lovely experience singing this folk song for Imman sir. It is a folk melody and is the love song of the album. The minute I got a call from Imman sir, the excitement immediately started and it was a beautiful experience. And like I have always said everywhere, I am always thankful to Imman sir for the opportunity. He has a knack to make us feel super comfortable and then record us. Both me and my co-singer recorded this song together. He helped me while recording likewise, I helped him while he recorded. So it was new for us both to see the song unfold right in front of us"

5. Pachi Paranthuruchu
Singer - Mannargudi Ramesh

"I am an auto driver and I participated in a reality show. Imman sir called me and told that he doesn't want to know anything about my caste or background, and he just wanted to use my talent. People used to tell me, 'Vera Velaya paaru da', as they thought cinema and music are not for me. But, Imman sir proved it wrong and made me proud among those people."

And finally, we have D.Imman, who has to say a few words about working on this album. He said, "It has been an immense joy to work with debutant director Thalapathy Prabu for this album, whom I got to know as director Ponram's associate for VVS and Rajini Murugan. Proud to be associated with the prestigious Thenandal Films banner. Being the second outing with Udhayanidhi Stalin brother, this film made me score the rural way with the right mixture of melodies and mass commercial numbers.

Any day, it gives me utmost satisfaction and strength in introducing new singing talents to the film music fraternity. In this album I had the freedom to explore new voices like Diluckshan Jeyaratnam from Denmark, Ramesh and Rajaganapathy from Chennai. They had done complete justice to the songs with their outstanding singing skills. I feel proud and honoured to have introduced these deserving talents. Would love to mention singers Sathyaprakash, Vandana Srinivasan, Deepak, Niranjana Ramanan and Shashaa Tirupati for their top notch singing in this album. Hope this rural outing will satisfy our music listeners
."
