ACADEMY BANS WILL SMITH FROM OSCARS FOR 10 YEARS

Oscar-winning presenter and comedian Chris Rock has ridiculed actress Jada Pinkett Smith, the wife of award-winning actor Will Smith, regarding her hair. Angered by this, Smith went on stage, slapped Rock, and went downstairs.

Will Smith then issued a statement regretting his action. "Violence in any form is poisonous and destructive. My action at last night's Academy Awards was unacceptable and unforgivable. Jokes were part of the job, but I could not bear the humor about Jada's health.

Will Smith also resigned as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences). The Oscars committee has banned Will Smith from attending the Oscars for 10 years. The move comes after a meeting of the academy's board of governors to discuss actions against Smith.

"The 94th Oscars were meant to be a celebration of the many individuals in our community who did incredible work this past year; however, those moments were overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behavior we saw Mr. Smith exhibit on stage," said the Academy letter.
