In an exclusive interview to Behindwoods, Abhirami opened up about her career and life in an interesting conversation. Speaking about how she became Abhirami from Divya, she said that it was the result of what happened during her debut when she was 15 years old. Also, she confirmed the rumor that her name was inspired from Kamal Haasan's Abirami character.

Talking about her chance of working with Kamal Haasan from whose film inspired her stagename, Abhirami said it was a wonderful experience. She also exclaimed that Kamal Haasan was a very experienced person, knows something about everything. She remembered him being taunting on set, very sarcastic at times. She remarked that Virumandi was the biggest milestone in her career.
