Superstar Rajinikanth had filed a writ petition in the Madras High Court after Greater Chennai Corporation had demanded property tax of Rs 6.50 lakh for his Raghavendra marriage hall which is situated at Kodambakkam in Chennai.

The corporation had sent the tax notice to the actor for the half-yearly period, from April to September. According to reports, due to the lockdown, the marriage hall remained vacant since March 24 this year and hence, no revenue was generated.

The actor mentioned that he had been paying property tax regularly for the marriage hall and that the last tax paid last on February 14, before the lockdown. Reportedly, the judge handling the petition advised the advocate to not waste the time of the court with such petitions.
