THREE NEW SONGS IN OK JAANU

OK Kanmani is being remade in Hindi as OK Jaanu and acclaimed cinematographer Ravi K Chandran is the man behind the lens for the Hindi version. He tells behindwoods about the film and how it is going to be different from OK Kanmani.

“We just have four days of shoot left behind which involves shooting in Ahmedabad and a song sequence. In all we have shot for around 36 days till now. Since we know the emotional content of the film along with all the other details, it was an easy process. We have not attempted to be different from the original, but managed to retain the soul intact.

There would be three new songs in place of Parandhu Sella Vaa, Senamika and Malargal Ketten. They have come out very well. Leela Samson is reprising her role in the Hindi version while Nasseruddin Shah has taken the place of Prakash Raj in OK Jaanu. Lead cast Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur have brought in their own style to the characters. Gulzar’s dialogues and lyrics are also top-notch.

We have shot the film in a candid manner. It was a new experience to shoot the film in real live locations in Mumbai as it is seldom done there. Since we had rehearsed well, we got into crowded places and shot quickly. It was very energetic to shoot for OK Jaanu.

It is a collaborative effort and we have completed it pretty quickly. Every morning, we used to go to the spot around 5.30 as we had great light then. We have to thank Shraddha and Aditya as they used to come in time and get ready. Since they did one month reading of the script, they knew the dialogues by heart. Therefore, we did not have any major correction which helped us complete in time. The film will hit the screens in January 2017.”

OK Jaanu is being directed by Shaad Ali with AR Rahman's music and Sreekar Prasad's editing.
