The dispute between Malayalam actor Bineesh Bastin and Director Anil Radhakrishnan Menon over a function at a college in Palakkad has ended after Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) held a meeting with both of them on Monday. The actor had got support in social media after a video of Bastin went viral, claiming to have faced biased treatment from Menon during the function (at college).

FEFKA  Secretary B Unnikrishnan during a press conference said that there was a discussion with the actor and director for 15 minutes. “All problems have been resolved. It was made clear by both that no casteist slur was used by the director towards the actor,” said Unnikrishnan. Bastin and Menon were also present at the news conference.

Speaking to media, Unnikrishnan said that th ere was no discrimination in Malayalam cinema and the social media gave the colour of casteism to the issue. However, Bineesh told media that he didn’t wish to act in movies directed by Anil in future, but will maintain the friendship. The actor also walked away in the middle of the press meet citing personal reasons while Radhakrishnan sat till the end of press meet. 

The incident which led to spat happened when Menon reportedly didn’t share the dias with Bastin during a college function in Palakkad. Bineesh had acted in movies like ‘Theri’ (Tamil), ‘Pokkiriraja’, ‘Double Barrel’, ‘Angel John’ etc.
