Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, Santosh Narayanan has composed the music for the film. Apart from the leads - Dhanush and Rajisha, the film also features Lal, Yogi Babu and Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli amongst others in important roles.
The film has generally received a positive response from the audience, and Mari Selvaraj is yet again being praised for his craftsmanship in bringing together a complex and demanding storyline in an impressive visualization.
While the pre-interval sequence has already garnered a lot of fans, there is another interesting trivia about the movie. Karnan movie has an iconic Rajinikanth movie reference in one of its scenes - Thalapathy, and it is attributed to the fact that the crux of the story is set around the year 1997.
