In this exclusive interaction with Behindwoods, Director Mari Selvaraj speaks about his first movie Pariyerum Perumal and the upcoming Karnan. Speaking of how both are similar, he says, "Pariyerum Perumal was the story of Pariyan, and his journey in life. Similarly Dhanush's Karnan explains this - Who is Karnan? What is his situation and his reaction to those? But in both the movies - the stark reality and truthfulness of the characters is similar. That's what will reflect in both."

Speaking about Dhanush and his involvement, the director said, "Dhanush is so involved in a character that everything he does during the shoot he thinks from the perspective of the role. Whenever he feels an act is not proper, he consults with me to make sure that action will be worthy of the character."
