Bigg Boss Tamil is a popular reality TV show that has it's 3rd season underway. It is hosted by Kamal Haasan and the show is progressing at a brisk pace. Yesterday's episode saw Kamal Haasan and Saravanan speak about groping in buses and public transport.

Chinmayi slams Bigg Boss Tamil Season 3 show for sexist remarks

Singer and voice artist Chinmayi took to her Instagram account to post a small snippet from the show, and slammed the programming of the show. Catch her post below:

"A Tamil channel aired a man proudly proclaiming he used the Public Bus Transport system to molest/grope women - to cheers from the audience. (Despite Mr Kamal Hasan valiantly trying to make sure the man doesn’t blurt anything to make him look like a ‘valiant hero’, as soon as he raised his hand, but said man said ‘I have done that during college too.’ It is quickly made into a joke.

This is a joke. To the audience. To the women clapping. To the molester.

Damn.

I mean, do NONE of these people understand that millions of kids get molested on the bus?

And that this is traumatic?!! How is anyone supposed to get justice in a society like this that cheers molesters?

I took the PTC bus and then the MTC bus to school and even thereafter until I could get a second hand LML Trendy.

There are some men in buses who USE the crowd as an excuse to push their genitals into women AND younger men who are so traumatised that they don’t even know how to process it!

When I attended German class, a guy told us that he gets molested by older men in the bus. Until then I had no idea boys get molested too. Thankfully he was strong enough to poke and even break the fingers of such men. Most girls cry. Or we numb ourselves. Saying it is normal.

We begin normalising such behaviour and then train ourselves to never speak up or create a scene. Coz, hey, we need to go to college and school and work!

Whether it is cheering a ‘groper’ who is proud of what he did, or converting a physical assault accusation into a sexual assault accusation and shaming her and schooling a woman on ‘fake’ cases in the same episode - this is programming. This is how they train the audience with the power that they have to shame and doubt women.

I dont watch the show but Meera, according to newspaper reports said Mr Cheran manhandled her. Mr. Cheran is said to have agreed but claims he didn’t intend harm.

Bus la nerusal irundhaalum, illaattalum, mela vandhu vizharavan nerusal naala vizharana, nerusal a saakka vechuttu molest panraanaa-nnu, adha anubhavichu tholanjavangaluku dhaan teriyum."
