Ace lensman Sukumar has predominantly worked in Telugu and Tamil film industries and has lensed several acclaimed features such as Kumki, Dharma Durai and the National Award-winning Telugu film Chi La Sow. In a recent interaction with the press, the cinematographer spoke about his upcoming films and Varma, the shelved Tamil remake of the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy.

Varma was directed by Bala with Dhruv Vikram as lead, but the critically acclaimed filmmaker opted out of the project due to creative differences. The project was then started from the scratch by the makers, with Gireesaaya helming Dhruv in the remake titled 'Adithya Varma'. The film starred Banita Sandhu, Priya Anand, Anbu Thasan and others in supporting roles.

Speaking about the experience from the sets of Varma, Sukumar said that Arjun Reddy is basically the Telugu version of Bala's Sethu. He shared that Bala had sculpted Dhruv'a acting skills during the shooting of the film. "I have witnessed Dhruv's change from the start of the film to the end, in-person" he stated. Sukumar.

The ace lensman then said that there are possibilities for Dhruv and Bala to join hands in the future and added that the relationship between Bala and Vikram have not been jeopardized due to the misunderstanding of the project 'Varma'.
