Vetrimaaran is one of the leading directors in Tamil cinema. Director Vetrimaaran is good at filming good stories in a way that appeals to the fans. He has been recently taking the storyline of his films from Tamil novels. His trial film is adapted from the book Lockup and from the novel Vekkai by the monster film writer Boomani. His next film, Vaadivaasal, is based on the novel by the same name which is written by writer CS Chellappa. Vaadivaasal is one of the classic novels of Tamil cinema and is celebrated by the readers.

Announcement

The announcement of the film was made last year. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the film ever since. But the start of filming was delayed as director Vetrimaaran was busy engaged shooting for Viduthalai and Suriya too had been focusing on his other films.

Viral test shoot photos

The test shoot of the film was held on the East Coast Road in Chennai yesterday and the photos went viral on the internet. Suriya, director Vetrimaaran and producer Kalaipuli Thanu were present during the filming. 

Actor Soori has now shared a photo with director Vetrimaaran and Suriya on the set and captioned it in Tamil which loosely translates to - the film will be an epic, which will make the world aware of the glory of the traditional game of our soil that has been heroic for thousands of years.

Viduthalai 

Soori plays the protagonist in Viduthalai which is now being directed by Vetrimaaran. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role. Filming for this movie is currently underway. The film is based on the work of writer Jayamohan's companion. Vetrimaaran has teamed up with Ilayaraaja for the first time through this film. Vetrimaaran is expected to start Vaadivaasal after finishing this film.
