AN AFFAIR WITH SPORTS!

Precisely between Christmas of 2015 and 2016, Indian cinema has had a major love affair with the sports. We have had 4 major films which have released within this year, all of which have boxing and wrestling as their core plot. The films are, Bhoolaham (December 24th 2015), Irudhi Suttru/Saala Khadoos (January 29th), Sultan (6th July) and Dangal (23rd December).

Incidentally, all the 4 films had received positive response all over. Bhooloham starred Jayam Ravi and Trisha, Irudhi Suttru/Saala Khadoos starred R Madhavan and Ritika Singh, Sultan starred Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma and Dangal stars Aamir Khan.

The past year has definitely been a good one for sports-drama films and especially the movies that are based on boxing and wrestling. Can we expect more films on sports in the forthcoming year? Let’s look forward to 2017.
