“I PUT ON 15 KGS TO MATCH SATHYARAJ SIR”

Oru Naal Iravil (ONI) directed by Editor Anthony hits the screen this Friday, the 20^th November. The film features Sathyaraj, Anumol, Yugi Sethu and others. The young Varun who plays the lead in Vinodhan plays an important role in this film too. Varun is the grandson of Isari Velan, the politician - actor who had worked with the legendary MGR in many films.

On his role in the film Varun says, “I play a 30 year old auto driver in ONI although I am just 23. I am someone who is very loyal to Sathyaraj sir in the film and our bond would be very different. If one has to be friends with someone as senior as Sathyaraj sir, there should be some kind of authenticity in it and to match that, I put on almost 15 kgs and grew beard to look like someone in that age group. People who saw the film felt I looked perfect like a 30 year old”.

Varun also adds that Sathyaraj appreciated his performance and was very supportive.

“Sathyaraj sir is quite updated about latest trends and he is much open to trying out new techniques. He was very friendly and took care of me just like his son. All in all it was a great opportunity for me to have started my career with someone as legendary as Sathyaraj sir”.
