A PRECISE FIRST LOOK FOR A MUCH-EXPECTED BIOPIC ...

Looks like biopics on cricketers is the go-to genre in Bollywood right now. Neeraj Pandey, known for making crime drama films, is making a film on the life of Indian cricket captain Dhoni. Sushant Singh Rajput will be starring as Dhoni in this film titled M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story.

There is also a docu-feature film based on Sachin Tendulkar’s life which is expected to be directed by London based filmmaker James Erskine. Sachin Tendulkar would apparently be reprising his own self in the film.

Now there is this film on the life of the ex-captain of the Indian cricket team Mohammad Azharuddin, who once held the record for the highest career runs in ODI Cricket when he was in his prime. But then Azhar’s life took a U-turn when he was imposed with a life ban from cricket after the match-fixing scandal back in 2000.

This biopic titled Azhar will be directed by Tony D’Souza and Emraan Hashmi will be playing Azhar. The first look poster of the film, which was released today (May 21) shows Emraan Hashmi with drooping shoulders donning an Indian cricket jersey from the 90s, walking towards the ground from the dressing room, with a crowd standing beyond the fence on either side. The crowd on one side is lending their hands for an autograph from their cricketing idol, while people on the other side seem to be carrying a burning dummy mannequin of Azhar; clearly depicting the life and times of the star.

Very precise indeed !
