DILWALE VS BAJIRAO MASTANI? WHAT'S HAPPENING ?

December 18 saw the release of two much expected Hindi films - Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani. Shahrukh Khan and Kajol drove up all the expectations and hype for Rohit Shetty's Dilwale while SLB (aka) Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani had Ranveer Singh, Deepika and Priyanka to bolster it.

 

Initially it looked like Dilwale had the upper hand at the box office due to its star power, and the film opened in a big way both in India and overseas. But Dilwale's poor reviews and Bajirao Mastani's own fabulous audience-talk quickly changed the fortunes in favor of the SLB film.

 

After the first 8 days, Dilwale has netted close to 111 crores in India while Bajirao has netted around 98 crores in the country. The gap between the two is narrowing fast and Bajirao is consistently collecting more than Dilwale every day now. In all likelihood, Bajirao will leap ahead of Dilwale soon. Content is always king, hence proved.

 

But this clash has split audiences and collections for both the films and the two would have performed much better had they gone solo.
