Did Ajith, Vijay and Suriya perform as well as Dhanush?

Dhanush's 25th film, Velai Illa Pattathari is the toast of the town now and everyone seems to be raving about this mass entertainer, where Dhanush has shined both as an actor and as a mass star. The film's opening has been fabulous all over the world and Dhanush has returned as one of the most influential stars at the box-office, after a low key period over the past few years.

 

Here we look back at how the ruling troika of Ajith, Vijay and Suriya fared in their respective 25th films. Did they also manage a rousing success like how Dhanush has done with his 25th? 

 

Vijay's 25th Kannukkul Nilavu - Vijay re-united with his Kadhalukku Mariyadhai director Fazil in this movie, where he was paired with Shalini yet again. Ilayaraja's music for the film was much appreciated and Vijay's character in the movie was far removed from what he had done till then in his career. Kannukul Nilavu could not achieve box-office success but was a worthy attempt by Vijay to improve his range as an actor.

 

Ajith's 25th Amarkalam - The film signaled Ajith's arrival as an action star and went on to receive good reviews and handsome commercial success as well. The Saran - Ajith - Bharadwaj combo was established with this flick, where Ajith also met his lady love Shalini and later settled in marital bliss.

 

Suriya's 25th Singam - Singam went on to become a blockbuster in 2010 and Suriya's fiery performance in the movie was loved by fans and critics alike. Singam 2 released last year, and achieved even bigger success. The name 'Singam' would forever be special for Suriya and director Hari.
