Friday Mayhem at the box office - A record clash of sorts

Today, Friday the 18th of October has turned out to be a record of sorts as there are going to be 7 straight Tamil releases, which is the highest in a single week so far this year.

The 7 films are all small-timers with little or no public awareness, and they have been allocated just a few theaters and shows across the state as previous weeks' releases such as Raja Rani, Vanakkam Chennai, Idhaaba and Naiyaandi are still ruling a major chunk of the theaters in TN.

With just a few weeks left for the Diwali releases to totally take over theaters, these films don't have much breathing space and they really have to be extra-ordinary if audiences are to take attention of them.

The 7 films in the ring are Ragalaipuram, Nugam, Nirnayam, Chithiraiyil Nila Soru, Anjal Thurai, Ragasiya Dhambathiam and Ninaivugal Unnodu. It won't be a surprise if some of these films make it quickly to the television screens in the weeks to come.
