Naiyaandi aka Naiyandi makers issue a statement of clarification on the plagarism issue

Naiyaandi is only inspired by Meleparambil Aanveedu

Nov 06, 2013

Kerala producer Mani C Kappan has filed a complaint against the makers of the Dhanush starrer Naiyaandi for alleged copyright violation resulting in the court issuing a temporary stay order on the screening and distribution of video rights of the movie. Mani C Kappan claims that Naiyaandi was a copy of Meleparambil Aanveedu and that the Tamil makers did not get his consent for the same.

In response to these allegations, the Production Executive Manager of Naiyaandi, S. Nagarajan has released a statement saying that he is presently in possession of the remake rights of the Malayalam film Meleparambil Aanveedu.

In his statement he goes on to say that Naiyaandi is only inspired by the Malayalam film and there is a difference between the two stories. Still the Malayalam film was given a title card mention as a mark of honour and respect to the creators of the original.
