THE WEDDING FEVER!

By Prathap

Any publicity is good publicity, as they say in the marketing guidebook of Tamil films. Naturally, when the lead of a movie gets hitched, the movie gets some publicity boost and eventually cashes in on the wedding fever. Here are a few such films.

Superstar Rajini married when he was shooting for Thillu Mullu. Needless to say, that generated enough buzz for the movie. Fast forward 31 years, Mirchi Siva got married while shooting for the Thillu Mullu remake.

The most talked about pair, that successfully kept their relationship under wraps, Suriya and Jyothika married in 2006 right after they finished shooting for Sillunu Oru Kaadhal. The movie released 3 days before their marriage.

Ajith proposed to Shalini during the shooting of Amarkalam and they walked down the aisle in 2000, just before Ajith's Kandukondein Kandukondein released.

Dhanush's grand wedding with the Superstar’s elder daughter Aishwarya was held in 2004 after Sullan released.

Since Karthi went the traditional way in opting for an arranged marriage; his wedding did not assist his movie's publicity in a big way.
