"I AM WAITING..."

By Kaushik.L.M

With the Diwali releases just having passed and one among them earning the blockbuster tag as well, the industry and fans are looking forward to the next set of big ticket releases. Most of these big ticket releases have been delayed and the fans’ wait for them is just getting extended more and more. Fans are literally longing for some of these movies thanks to this frustrating wait.

Starting with Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam, which is making all the right noises due to the Auro 3D surround sound enhanced trailer that is being shown in select theaters. People who have seen the trailer can’t help feeling their seats vibrate in accordance with the action on the screen. The expectations are huge as always for this Kamal movie but the music launch date and the movie’s release date are yet to be known with any degree of surety.

Then we have Gautham Menon’s Neethane En Ponvasantham whose music has already been received with wide open arms by the audience. The trailer of the movie has already given people a taste of what to expect and December 14th is being spoken of as a possible release date for this Jiiva - Samantha romantic caper. Hope this release date is met.

Prabhu Solomon’s Kumki was expected to be a Diwali release but the movie is yet to see the light of the day. The songs from this movie have already achieved cult status and with scenic locales being promised in the trailer, the expectations from the movie are high. VFX work is being cited as the reason for the delay.

Ameer Sultan’s Aadhi Bhagavan is another movie for which fans are waiting since time immemorial. The movie had been in the shooting stage for close to two years but there has been some action of late thanks to the trailer release and the music release. The reception for the songs as well as the trailer has been positive and now all eyes are on the release date. But it’s still unclear whether Aadhi Bhagavan would be a December release or a Pongal release.

Karthi’s Alex Pandian’s release date has been pushed from Diwali to December to Pongal. Hope the movie hits screens as promised for the harvest festival. STR’s Vaalu was heavily promoted as a Diwali release right from the day its teaser was launched. But, the movie is nowhere near completion and the long in the making Podaa Podi released instead for Diwali. STR’s other movie Vettai Mannan is also stuck in the cans currently.

Mani Ratnam’s Kadal has been progressing with a huge veil of secrecy around it and fans are hoping that the music hits the stands on November 23rd as predicted. On the other hand, fans are also eagerly waiting just for the title of the upcoming Ajith – Vishnuvardhan movie which is being shot in Mumbai at a brisk pace. Diwali day was expected to bring some news on the movie’s title front but nothing of that sort happened.

With so many big and much expected movies awaiting release, fans must be collectively saying to themselves “I am waiting” much like how Vijay says in Thuppakki. We hope there aren’t any more waits and delays.
